Western Medicine
Routine Diagnostics Dr.
Kate provides routine diagnostic services, such as bloodwork,
urinalysis, culture and sensitivity testing, in-house cytologies,
biopsies, vaccine titers, etc. Results are communicated in a timely
fashion, preferably via email so that her clients have a written copy
of the test results and Dr. Kate's analysis and recommendations.
Specialty Diagnostics
Veterinary medicine has benefited from advances in human medicine.
No
longer are the maladies of dogs and cats limited to "best guess"
diagnosis and treatment. Now it is not uncommon for a dog or cat to
have an ultrasound, echocardiogram, CT scan, or MRI as part of the
diagnostic process. When necessary Dr. Kate refers her patients to
area specialists for these advanced type of diagnostic tests. Surgery and Xrays Dr.
Kate refers most surgeries and xrays out to area clinics. Most of the
clinics in the greater Portland area are receptive to Dr. Kate's
patients. Occasionally, if a surgery can be done with just a sedative
plus local anesthetic, Dr. Kate will recommend an at-home surgery. Vaccinations Dr.
Kate does not believe in over-vaccinating dogs and cats. She analyzes
each patient's lifestyle to determine the most frugal and yet the most
protective vaccination protocol for that individual. Vaccine titers are also available as a means of determining whether certain boosters are necessary or not. |
